Mr. Nurum Islam. আমাদের পাড়ার আইসক্রিম
বিক্রেতা। He is selling ice creams for last 33 years; most of which is
in our neighborhood. If history of New DOHS is written someday; he must be a part of it. He was a little tough and rough in earlier years, but now a calm person. Much like many fellow Bangladeshis, he is a politically concerned man.
He does not have the perfect sales skill but greets customers with a smile. He also gives advices along with ice creams; much of it are political and spiritual.

- Ishrak Imroze This brings back a lot of memories, Bhaia and I used to sit in the balcony everyday exactly at 3pm waiting to hear his bell ring. Although we were not allowed to have ice-cream everyday, it was a tradition. I am glad to know he is still there and serving the good people. I wish him good health and hope to buy the classic 'igloo vanilla ice-cream' from him as I used to before. Thanks a lot for sharing this post.
- Ishrak Imroze Yes indeed! This seems like a tradition that is existent amongst all the kids in DOHS. Somethings never change, InshAllah it won't either!

- Osama S M Khan Assalamu Alaikum Nurul Islam Chacha. You are a source of unspoilt pleasure for DOHS kids for generations. May Almighty keep you healthy and happy Ameen.
- Fairuz A Ahmed Now I miss buying ice creams from him Indeed, he should be one of the parts of New DOHS' s history.
- Mabrur Hyder Occasionally, Bhaiya and I used to spot him and ask ammu and abbu to get Ice Cream, we used to go there, get the Ice creams and abbu used to pay, it was nice.
Reminds me of our old house each time. - Ridwanur Rahman · 5 mutual friendsThis is guy is such an amazing person! That day, in front of our school (BISC), after class hours, it was raining and the all the vehicles there were jammed. The security guards did almost nothing except sitting under their umbrellas and watching. Then, this noble man came to the scene and did the work of a road conductor. It was for his virtue we could get out of the jam pretty soon.
Hats off to this guy. - Yasef Imroze Ifaz I was really fond of this guy. Every time he used to ring his bell and ride his ice cream van past our house at New DOHS lane 5. I used to get excited and beg to Ammu or Baba to buy me some ice cream. There was this one day, this guy didn't stop after I told him to and I started crying. Zakir mama, rushed to the road and scolded him to come back. You're right, he was a bit arrogant those days but then again he was one of the few people who made all the kids and grown ups of New Dohs happy those days and till today. This happened way back in 1994/1995. Memory remains fresh.
- Mohaimen Hyder Since I was a small kid, I used to get icecream from him "Uncle akta chocbar den please!!" :')
- Mantasha Tazreen He once gave me and my friends free ice cream. We insisted to pay, but he wouldn't take the money. :')
