Garments industry still dominates the export earnings of Bangladesh, with three quarters of foreign remittance coming from the sector, even though farmers account for two thirds of the country. The garments sector started attracting foreign investments in the early 1980s with the availability of cheap cost of labour and low currency costs. It exported products worth US$ 5 billion  in 2002, which increased to US$ 12.6 in 2009-10 fiscal year. The World Trade Organization (WTO) recently ranked Bangladesh the 4th largest cloth exporter, while The Economist ranked it to be the third largest. According to this Bangladesh Top News site, Bangladesh exported $2bn worth of readymade garments in July 2012. This figure apparently is a 5.2% rise year on year. The garments industry employs over 3 million workers of which 90% are women. So if Bangladeshi women say that they are the major contributors, no one can deny!  

Due to lack of understanding and cooperation between the local lawmakers, administrators and garment owners, it has become quite tough for the government backed crisis management committees to control the violence in the garment community. The committee has also shown some mismanagement in their part, they are supposed to summon a meeting every month to discuss the management issues of the crisis, which is however only seen when there is a crisis taking place. This is a reason for which the labor and employment ministry formed its own central crisis management committee and five other committees based on five different zones back in 2010, for easier management of specific sector problems. The central crisis management is leaded by the state minister for labor and Employment Munnojan Sufian, where the local lawmakers are made the head of the zonal committees. Bangladesh cancelled its cricket team's scheduled tour to Pakistan. For the right reasons that is. Why it was even considered beats any rational human being’s thought process. Most travelers rank Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Congo, Sudan and Pakistan as the most dangerous places to visit on earth. There is no tourism company in the world that would say that these countries are safe.
